Phase 1 / 2

Modules: Modules for: Children and adolescents, Spinal cord compression, Pleural effusion, Update QLQ-LC13, Cachexia/Nutrition, Vulva, Update QLQ-H&N35, Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML), Melanoma.

Identification:

Generation of QOL issues relevant to the specific type of cancer patients

  • Literature review
  • Semi-structured interviews with specialists
  • Semi-structured interviews with patients

Phase 1 / 2 Completed

Modules:Testicular cancer, Cholangiocarcinoma, Nasopharyngeal cancer, Oral Health.

Construction of issues into a provisional questionnaire:

  • The items are worded to be compatible with the EORTC QLQ-C30 response categories
  • Review by professionals and 3 -5 patients
  • Comparison with existing modules and existing translations. Done with the aid of the Item Bank.

Phase 3 Completed

Modules: Superficial Bladder, Muscle Invasive Bladder, High Dose Chemotherapy, Ophthalmic cancer, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia, Radiation proctitis, Endometrial cancer, Pancreatic cancer, Information Module, Chemo-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy, Carcinoid / Neuroendocrine tumours, Hepatocellular Carcinoma, Bone metastases, Fatigue, Cancer in elderly patients, Breast reconstruction module, Spiritual Wellbeing.

Ongoing modules:

Pretesting of the provisional module for acceptability and relevance:

  • A sample of patients complete the module and are interviewed
  • Results are analysed according to response prevalence and variance
  • The report is approved by the Module Development Committee
  • The questionnaire is modified according to the results of the pretesting until a good format with a reasonable number of questions is achieved.

 

Validated Modules

Modules: Breast, Lung, Head and Neck, Oesophageal, Ovarian, Gastric, Multiple Myeloma, Cervical cancer, Oesophago-gastric, Prostate, Colorectal Liver Metastases Module, Colorectal, Brain.

Validated Modules:

After having successfully completed Phase IV field testing, the modules are considered as validated.

Validated Questionnaires

QLQ-C30 Core questionnaire, QLQ-C15-PAL short form palliative care questionnaire and EORTC IN-PATSAT32 patient satisfaction questionnaire.
